It is perfect weather to be blogging while it storms outside with a kitten snuggling in the blanket with me. Durban is finally getting some much needed rain and also helping me not feel too guilty about resting.
It has been a below average week with regards to training. I have been feeling pretty tired all week and despite my heart rate being ok, I am currently writing this with a sore throat. It is not fun having chronic fatigue and doing all the right things to try and fix it with no consistent or measurable result.
I would rather have a physical injury. Those, I know how to deal with since I have had many in my time and it is my profession to fix them!
The unknown is never easy to deal with, but life is like that. We never know when the next storm will hit, people get sick and die, accidents happen, we move, and we develop and grow and try and make the best of every situation thrown our way.
My faith has taught me to see the bigger picture. Life on this earth is short, we cannot control most of what happens to us and our loved ones, but we can control how we respond to them. So I continue to take each day as it comes and do what I can that day to the best of my ability. If it is a 2km sea swim, fundraising or blogging on the couch in a storm with a kitten cuddling me, I will do it the best I can and have faith that the task God has called me to will happen in His time and His way.
I will get up and get better and start again next week
I have not done one swim this week, but that is ok, I have done what my body can and still come out short. I will get up and get better and start again next week.
